About Avi Yashchin

Avi Yashchin is a serial entrepreneur committed to transformational change in the vocational education market. In 2009, Mr. Yashchin created CleanEdison, which became the nation’s largest green jobs training provider. Kaplan, Inc. acquired CleanEdison in June 2014.

Mr. Yashchin currently advises other educational startups, including NYC Data Science Academy, where he implemented organizational changes to improve profitability and student satisfaction. Mr. Yashchin is also an instructor and advisor at General Assembly. He is frequently featured as an expert in technology and education, and has been interviewed by Entrepreneur, Huffington Post, Forbes, National Geographic and CNBC.

Mr. Yashchin began his career programming high-frequency trading algorithms at Barclay’s, eventually moving up to become Vice President of the firm’s Global Credit Products group.

Mr. Yashchin received a BS in Computer Science from John Hopkins University and an MBA in finance from New York University. He lives in New York City with his wife and son.
